R+D Automation, a Wisconsin-based company that automates processes and manufacturing in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, is leveraging its acquisition by The Krones Group to strengthen its position in life sciences automation. The company, founded in 1977, was acquired by The Krones Group, a Germany-based international leader in process, filling and packaging technology, in 2022.
Eric Holmes, chief technical officer at R+D Automation, praised Krones’ approach to the acquisition, stating that it remained sensitive to not changing R+D’s DNA and supported its growth initiatives. The acquisition will enable R+D Automation to leverage The Krones Group’s global presence to support installations and service in various countries worldwide. This development is set to open more opportunities and instill confidence in prospective customers.
As part of the new strategy, R+D Automation has launched a new brand and website that highlights its focus on medical devices and pharmaceutical automation in the life science industry. The new website offers a detailed presentation of the types of automation R+D excels at, the types of companies it works with, and its after-market service. Loren Esch, the CEO of R+D Automation, emphasized the new website’s role in driving the company’s growth strategy.
The company has also updated its name to R+D Automation from R+D Custom Automation, to enable simpler presentation as solutions are inherently customized. This new operating name aligns better with the company’s mission of designing and building machines that automate manufacturing and processes in the life sciences industry.
