Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI-powered assistant that is integrated into various Microsoft 365 applications, such as Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
The assistant can assist users in routine knowledge-based tasks, such as composing or editing text, generating summaries of documents or email threads, creating presentations, analyzing data sets, and organizing information in OneNote and Microsoft 365 Chat.
Studies have shown that using AI assistants like Copilot can save users time, allowing them to focus on more important work. Microsoft’s own research found that users reported daily time savings of 14 minutes, or 1.2 hours a week, on average.
Concerns about safety, privacy, and accessibility have been addressed by Microsoft, which has implemented various security measures to protect user data. The company also ensures that data used by Copilot is kept within the Microsoft 365 service boundary and does not use it to train foundation AI models.
Microsoft 365 Copilot is generally available to enterprise customers and requires a subscription for Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard, and Business Premium customers.
The assistant is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, and Microsoft has launched the Microsoft 365 Copilot Community and support site to help users get the most out of the tool.
