With artificial intelligence (AI) becoming more prevalent in education, Jackson College and the Jackson County Intermediate School District are collaborating to host a workshop on ethical AI integration in education. The workshop, titled “From Values to Vision: Rethinking Our Approaches to AI in Education,” will take place on October 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at JC’s Bert Walker Hall Community Rooms.
Dr. Troy Hicks, a professor at Central Michigan University with expertise in both AI and education, will lead the workshop. The agenda includes articulating values as educators in the AI age, exploring prompt engineering across AI tools, rethinking assignments, and rapid prototyping with AI tools. Designed for educators in grades 4-12, this workshop aims to help teachers align AI with their educational values, support ethical education, and meet student needs.
The cost to attend the workshop is $25 for local educators, while Jackson College faculty and staff attend for free. Educators are encouraged to bring their laptops and an open mind for this interactive and hands-on event.
