Microsoft-owned Github has announced that its AI-powered chatbot, Gopilot Chat, is now available to all users. The chatbot, which is available for $10 per month, can be prompted by developers in natural language and offers real-time guidance within the integrated development environment. Gopilot Chat can explain complex coding, detect security vulnerabilities, and write unit tests. However, Github has faced legal challenges, with some coders filing class action lawsuits against Github, Microsoft, and OpenAI, alleging open source licensing and IP violations. Github has argued that fair use doctrine protects them from copyright claims.
