– Rapper and actor Ice-T, real name Tracy Marrow, has stated that he is open to an artificial intelligence (AI) avatar of himself continuing his roles indefinitely.
– While supporting the idea of his digital double, he also humorously questioned if an AI version could replicate his skills in the bedroom.
Ice-T, best known for his roles in TV dramas like “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, expressed his acceptance of an AI avatar of himself reprising his roles in the future. He suggested that a future AI version of himself might even outdo him. The actor also made light of the potential transition by joking about whether his AI counterpart would be as skilled in the bedroom.
The star’s comments come in the backdrop of a recent strike by union members of the Screen Actors GuildāAmerican Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). One of the key concerns raised during the strike was the potential replacement of human jobs by AI in the entertainment industry. However, Ice-T expressed his acceptance of these technological advancements, stating that he believes it is only a matter of time before they become the norm.
While acknowledging people’s fears of job displacement due to AI, Ice-T offered a reassuring perspective. He suggested that while some jobs may be lost, new ones would also be created as society becomes more computer-oriented. He also mentioned that he doesn’t envision manual tasks featuring prominently in the future.
When asked about his ongoing role in “Law & Order”, Ice-T said he has no plans of leaving and would continue to be a part of it until “the wheels fall off”. Ice-T has been a series regular since the second season of the long-running show, playing the role of Detective Odafin Tutuola.
