Copilot+ on HP EliteBook Ultra drove me insane all day.

TLDR:

Key Points:

  • Tested Copilot+ AI on HP EliteBook Ultra
  • AI features not groundbreaking or necessary

In a full day using Copilot+ AI on the HP EliteBook Ultra, the AI features did not impress. Despite promises of increased performance and battery life, the AI capabilities provided by the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU were lackluster. Features like AI Cocreate in Windows Paint, live captions, enhanced studio camera effects, and the Copilot AI assistant were underwhelming.

Third-party applications were required for more advanced AI features, such as generative AI in Adobe Photoshop or gesture motion controls via Cephable. The live captions feature struggled with accents and slang, and background blur effects were not revolutionary. Overall, the AI features on the Copilot+ laptop did not justify an upgrade solely for that reason.

While the performance and battery life of the HP EliteBook Ultra were impressive, the AI features fell short of expectations. The Copilot+ program may have its benefits, but at this time, it may not be worth upgrading to a new laptop specifically for its AI capabilities.
