ABB Robotics has partnered with AI tech company XtalPi to build intelligent automated laboratories in China, focused on R&D processes in the biopharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, and new energy materials industries. The automated laboratories aim to boost productivity in these sectors by using ABB’s GoFa cobots to automate tasks such as synthesis, crystallization, dilution, filtration, and UPLC testing. The partnership will enable pharma and biotech companies to develop new drugs faster and with less cost, furthering research into disease prevention. The collaboration follows the opening of ABB Robotics Open Innovation Lab for Life Science and Healthcare in Shanghai.
