ABB has announced a new partnership with Volvo Cars to supply more than 1,300 robots and functional packages for the production of electric vehicles. The agreement includes functional packages for various production tasks, such as spot-welding and dispensing, and will be implemented at Volvo Cars’ facilities in Sweden and China. ABB’s OmniCore robot controllers will also help to deliver energy savings of up to 20% at sites. The two companies have a history of collaboration and this latest project is aimed at helping the automotive industry reach sustainability targets and transition to electric vehicle production.
